Annual Holiday Volunteer Opportunities
In addition to our regular volunteer opportunities, Meals on Wheels South Florida offers two wonderful holiday volunteer opportunities to give back to the seniors we serve. These annual traditions are cherished by our staff, and
we always love having new faces join in the festivities! To learn more, read below or call our office at 954.731.8770 with any questions.
All volunteers must complete the online application on our website here.
Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Program
Each holiday season, Meals on Wheels South Florida aims to ensure their clients enjoy the holidays as much as possible. In addition to the nutritious meals they already receive, Meals on Wheels South Florida staff and volunteers visit clients on Thanksgiving morning and present them with a hot turkey meal with all the trimmings, home-made place mats, fresh flowers, and a warm smile to let them know they are not alone.
These meals are delivered to clients who are generally alone and without family to visit them for Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving meal box includes a roasted turkey, vegetables, mashed potatoes, rolls, milk, and pumpkin pie.
Meals on Wheels South Florida is extremely grateful to the following for their generous contributions to the 2021 Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Program:
UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group)
New York Life
The Jack Brewer Foundation
Holiday Gift Box Program
Each year, Meals on Wheels South Florida selects 100-150 home-bound senior clients to receive a holiday gift box filled with personal care items and other necessities. Volunteers are needed to sort the items, as well as wrap, pack and deliver the gift boxes. Boxes are delivered towards the end of December.
Individuals and corporations may also make in-kind or financial gifts to support this annual holiday tradition.
The 2021 Holiday Gift Box Program was sponsored by community partners: Cigna and Sunshine Health.
